Home town-I

I was a tiny winy kid when i first sat on train for a very long journey. the train was bound to a place called mumbai.
Being a southie my mom and dad didn't leave any stone unturned to keep their hometown alive in mumbai
so it was a rule that we only speak in our mother tongue. every summer vacations mom sat down with books and made me write and read the native language.Family time involed watching telugu and kannada channels and movies.
every festival was celebrated with the same vigour and festivity as it used to be celebrated in our home town. even though we would be the only family celebrating that festival in neighborhood.
it was a great delight in cooking idlis and dosa's and treating our north indian neighbors, friends, colleagues.
once in a year a long summer vacation was must. and every year the destination was native place. bouncing off from one aunt's place to another. visiting this mama and playing with cousin's
along with it we had a little import and export of our own.importing soapnut powder, masala's and all other stuff which we can only find in our home town. amazing clothes, fancy bags and sharps knifes were exported every year.
And this is how my parents kept alive their hometown in their hearts and created a sweet place in their kid's heart.
(to be continued....)
